Jo Nell Ryan Taylor, of Crawfordville, GA, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the age of 86 at St. Mary’s Hospice House. Jo as her friends called her and “Dot” as she was called by her grandchildren was born in Somerville, AL on February 24, 1931, to the late Marcus Wilson Ryan and Mary Lou Johnson Ryan. She was the youngest of nine children.  She grew up on the family farm in Alabama and graduated from Priceville High School in 1949. She moved to Crawford, GA to help take care of her sister, Kitty and worked in a salon in Crawford.  Mutual friends introduced her to Ralph Brown Taylor who she  married in November of 1952 and they made their home in Crawfordville.  For many years she was the owner and operator of Jo Taylor Beauty Shop in Crawfordville where she made many friends. She was a longtime member of Sharon United Methodist Church in Sharon, GA. She will be remembered best for her steadfast dedication to family. Family was most important to her and she enjoyed participating in family activities and gatherings. She also enjoyed being with her friends and love to shop, cook, and garden. She spent a lot of time volunteering at the Sunshine House.  She will be missed.

In addition to her husband, Ralph Taylor she was preceded in death by her siblings, Truman Ryan, Talmadge Ryan, Leo Ryan, Jessie Eddy and Alice Keyes.  She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Ryan Baugh of Greensboro, GA; E. B. Baugh of Greensboro, GA; granddaughters, Kati Burnette and husband Jason of Atlanta, GA and Ali McCommons and husband Billy of Greensboro, GA; five grandchildren, Julia Baugh Burnette, Margaret Berry Burnette, William Joseph “Will” McCommons, Jr., McDonald Taylor “Mac” McCommons and Mary Claire McCommons; siblings, Kitty Johnson of Huntsville, AL, Faye Williams of Somerville, AL and Huie Ryan of Cullman, AL.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 20 2017, at Sharon United Methodist Church, Sharon, GA 30664 with Rev. Mark Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Billy McCommons, Will McCommons, Mac McCommons, Jason Burnette, Tommy Johnson and Joe B. Taylor. The family will receive friends Monday night from 5:00 p.m. to 7:p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
