Jimmie Dwaine Hughes, Sr.

The Lord took Jimmie Dwaine Hughes, Sr. 77, of Greensboro, GA, on February 22, 2015, at his home of an ongoing illness. Jim was born on November 28, 1937 in Decatur, IL to Donald LeRoy and Evelyn Lucile (Coleman) Hughes. He met his mate Elizabeth Ray on November of 1957 and were happily married 55 years. Jim worked for UPS for 33 years retiring to Lake Oconee after 5 state moves. Enjoyed his passions for cars, sports, NASCAR with his in-laws, Shell and Terry, collectibles and golf with his buddies. The joy of his life was creating and sharing memorable trips over the years.  He was a member of the Christian Church in Maroa, IL and of the Masonic Lodge #8 in Decatur.  Joined golf clubs wherever they moved.  

Preceding him in death are his parents, 3 brothers, a sister, and 2 nephews.  Surviving is wife, Elizabeth; daughters, Debra Hughes, Myrtle Beach; son, Jim Jr. (Nancy) Hughes; daughter, Susan (Matt) Orred and their son, Alex (his best buddy); granddaughters, Stacey Hucks, Kacey (Wm) Grand and son to be born in May; Karli (Kevin) Smith and Kora Alyne.  His 2 sisters, Gloria Prescott and Marcia Hughes; brother, Rodger (Barbara) Hughes.  Several nieces and nephews are loved as well.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street,  Greensboro, GA 30642. Visitation is from 1 to 2:00 p.m.  Rev. Michael Wells is officiating.   A reception will follow the service in the Hall-Thomas House.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Heart Association, P O. Box 672648, Marietta, GA  30006.  In Decatur, IL on February 28, 2015 a visitation from 1 to 2:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m. will be at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 2091 N. Oakland Avenue, Decatur, IL.  Graveside service with Masonic Rites will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
