Jim Henry Nicholson, Sr., age 74, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. He was born in DeKalb County on April 6, 1929 to the late Matt Alexander Nicholson and Mary Florine Cunningham Nicholson. He attended Greensboro High School and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. During his working career, he was a salesman at Bonnie Christies, worked at Eugene Massey''s Antique Shop and was a forklift operator for Universal Rundle. He was a member of West End Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley McGinty Nicholson of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Jackie Stewart and husband Doug of Union Point, GA; three sons, Jim Nicholson Jr. and wife Vickie of Greensboro, GA, Richard Nicholson and wife Belinda of Milledgeville, GA and Tony Nicholson and wife Alina of Greensboro, GA; a sister, Rebecca Taylor of Eatonton, GA; two brothers, Alvin Nickelson of Augusta, GA and Horace Nickelson of Greensboro, GA; nine grandchildren, Michael Nicholson, Timothy Nicholson, Lisa Smith, Robert Allen, Brian Stewart, Jason Stewart, Randy Nicholson, Joshua Nicholson and Matthew Nicholson; four great grandchildren, Krystal Mena, Memphis Smith, Alex Smith and James Smith.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 23, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at West End Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Robinson and Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Nicholson, Robert Allen, Randy Nicholson, James Hunt, Michael Walker, Michael Smith, Robert Lewis and Robert Mitchell. The family requests that any memorials be made to West End Baptist Church, c/o Rev. Robert Robinson, 2641 Syrup Mill Crossing Road, Greensboro, GA 30642. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
