Jesse Oliver English, Jr

Jesse Oliver “J.O.” English, Jr., age 89, of Mountain View Healthcare in Clayton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday evening December 3, 2006 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Greene County Georgia on June 14, 1917 and was the son of the late Jesse Oliver English, Sr. and Patience Gentry English. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Jernigan English, and a brother, Dewey E. English. J.O. is survived by his son, Albert O. English and his daughter-in-law, Kathryn K. English; and two grandchildren, Aaron King English and Russell Jonathan English. He served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II and was a member of the VFW Post 4570 in Rabun County and the VFW Adams Walker Post 4259 in Greensboro, Georgia. For many years he owned and operated a furniture store in Greensboro and was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home, in Clayton Georgia, on Tuesday evening December 5, 2006 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. They will also receive friends at McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro, Georgia on Wednesday December 6, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McCommons Funeral Home Chapel in Greensboro, Georgia on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at 2 :00 p.m. with Rev. Farrett Boswell and Rev. Melvin Charles officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Powelton Cemetery in Powelton, Georgia.
