Jerry Arnold Walker
Jerry Arnold Walker was born on March 4, 1948 in Olney, Illinois. Jerry graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in chemistry. He obtained a PhD in organic chemistry from MIT and did postdoctoral work at Cal Tech. He worked for 29 years at Upjohn / Pharmacia and Pfizer, retiring as a Vice President in Pharmaceutical bulk drug development. Jerry loved golf and after retirement, became a tournament rules official working many college and state tournaments both in Michigan and Georgia. Because of his excellent knowledge of golf rules, he was invited by the USGA to be a committee member for the US mid-amateur and the US amateur four ball tournaments. Jerry served as a governor for Golf Association of Michigan.
Jerry and his wife Christine were married for 39 years. They divided their time between residencies in Portage, Michigan and Greensboro, Georgia.
In addition to his wife, Christine, Jerry is survived by his mother, Ava; brother, Gary (wife Marcia) Walker; niece, Jennifer; sister, Diana Moade (husband Bill); nieces Sarah and Elizabeth; sister, Pam Sargeant (husband Clint); nephews, Michael and Jesse; sister-in-law, Barbara Sobala; four grandnephews and two grandnieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Max.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date in his home state of Illinois. He will be buried in St. Joseph Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio.
