Jerry Copelan Dolvin, 77, of Siloam, GA died Friday, April 20, 2007 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Greene County he was born on January 2, 1930 to the late Ralph Dolvin and Virginia Copelan Dolvin. He attended Siloam School until seventh grade and graduated from Greensboro High School in 1947. During the Korean Conflict he was an aircraft mechanic in the United States Air Force. After serving his country, he returned to Siloam where he owned and operated a farm raising cows, quail and chickens. Jerry was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church. He liked bluegrass music, playing the banjo, making leather goods, visiting with friends, watching westerns on tv, airplanes and tinkering with his mustang and machinery. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone.

He is survived by two brothers, George Dolvin of Siloam, GA and John Lane Dolvin and wife Mary of Hayesville, NC; sister-in-law, Frances Dolvin of Siloam, GA; nieces, Debbie Oxenrider, Jenny Hill, Joni Roberts, Sheila McDaniel and Judy Naylor; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers Sammy P. Dolvin in 1985 and Ralph W. Dolvin in 2003.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Siloam Methodist Church with Rev. Bert Mathews officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Lee Naylor, Clay Naylor, Joseph Jones, Tim Gilbert, Bud Henderson and Wayne Naylor. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Siloam United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3640 Hwy 15 South, Greensboro, GA 30642. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
