Jerry Patrick Copelan, age 63, of Buckhead, Georgia, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born on October 10, 1947 she was one of two children born to the late Elmer Franklin Patrick and Maude Higdon Patrick. She grew up in Greensboro and graduated from Greensboro High School in the class of 1965. She later graduated from Marsh-Draughon Business College in Atlanta. She was a homemaker until her children got out of school. Then she worked for Nathanael Greene Academy, Morgan County Middle School and the Chamber of Commerce. She spent many years living in Morgan County where she was employed by Wellington Puritan Mills and then to Pennington Seed for six years as a Edi Coordinator. She was a member of Fork Chapel United Methodist Church in Greshamville. Many will remember her from countless seasons on bleachers at baseball fields passionately cheering on her sons.
Jerry is survived by her brother, Kenneth and his wife Janice; son, Todd Copelan and his wife, Julie, and granddaughter Lily Beth; James Copelan and his wife Rocio, and grandchildren Emory and Mia, as well as a host of other relatives, friends and co-workers; and her special little dog, Spade.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the McCommons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Murphy officiating. Interment services will follow in Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Jason Patrick, Jeff Patrick, Matt Patrick, Mark Higdon, Doug Higdon and Jackie Copelan.
