Jerrold Lash Barron (Jerry), 71, passed away at his home in Great Waters/Reynolds Plantation, Eatonton, Georgia after a valiant three year battle with cancer.
He was born in Tecumseh, Michigan to the late Keith and Esther Barron. He received his Bachelor''s degree and M.B.A. from the University of Michigan where he also met and married his best friend and loving wife of nearly fifty years, Shirley (Dayharsh) Barron. He remained a life-long, avid U of M fan. Go Blue!!
The couple moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1959 where they raised their 4 children. Jerry worked for the Upjohn Company (now Pfizer) as Director of Information Systems for 33 years until his retirement in 1992. He served as President of the Data Processing Management Association and he received the W.E.Upjohn Award for Administrative Excellence in 1973. In his spare time, Jerry was very involved with Little League baseball and was an umpire both locally and at the district level for over 15 years. He enjoyed golf and bowling and bowled a 300 game during league play.
In 1993 Jerry and Shirley retired to Great Waters in Eatonton, Georgia. They made many wonderful friends and enjoyed the golfing and the beautiful weather. At Reynolds, Jerry served as Secretary of the Men''s Golf Association, and also scored 2 holes-in-one.
Jerry is survived by his wife Shirley, his four children: Dr Kathlene (Geoff) Barron/Grow of Santa Barbara, CA, David (Andrea) Barron of Kalamazoo, MI, Michael (Becky) Barron of Kalamazoo, MI, and Julie (Patrick) Albring of Howell, MI. Grandchildren: Katie, Kris and Kelsey Barron, Jacob and Joshua Albring and Shaun and Kyle Williams.
The family extends it''s heartfelt thanks to the caring and loving community of Reynolds Plantation.
At Jerry''s request, he was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to: The First Tee (for children''s golf), World Golf Village, 425 South Legacy Trail St Augustine, FL. 32092 or the charity of your choice.
