Janie Davis Obituary

Janie Elizabeth Kimbrough Davis, 94, of Watkinsville, GA, formerly of Siloam, GA died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at St. Mary''s Hospice House in Bogart, GA. Born in Greene County on December 2, 1914 she was the daughter of the late James Wesley Lewellyn Kimbrough and Rebecca Elizabeth Bryan Kimbrough, both of Greene County. In 1932 she graduated from Greensboro High School. Janie had lived in Siloam for the past fifty-two years and was a faithful member of Siloam Methodist Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and was devoted to her family. She married Walter Thomas Cook in 1935 and celebrated 15 years of marriage before his death in 1950. She also married Lawrence Burney Moore in 1954 who passed away in 1975 and married Virgil Hoyt Davis in 1979 who died in 1996.

She is survived by a daughter, Nell Elizabeth Jordan Cornell of Watkinsville, GA; three grandchildren, Jon Gavin Jordan of Athens, GA, Chad Everett Jordan of Winder, GA and Christa Shea Bailey of Winder, GA; four great grandchildren, Ansley Elizabeth Jordan of Athens, GA, Hunter Lawrence Jordan of Athens, GA, Mackenzie Janet Jordan of Winder, GA and Rachel Ware Jordan of Winder, GA; and a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Locket Mitchell Kimbrough and James Rosser Kimbrough.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Siloam Methodist Church with Rev. Bert Mathews officiating. Serving as pallbearers are John Kools, Frank Moore, Russ Moore, Shane Bailey, Jimmy Redd, Gavin Jordan, and Chad Jordan. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be her great grandson, Hunter Jordan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. before the service at Siloam Methodist Church. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
