JAMES MITCHELL (JACK) SHARP, JR.

James Mitchell (Jack) Sharp, Jr., passed away peacefully in his home in Eatonton, GA on Friday, January 20, 2017. Jack was born in Kansas City, MO and lived most of his life in the Atlanta and Lake Oconee areas. He was a graduate of Furman University where he played football and he also served in the US Air Force. Most of his career was as Sales Manager with United Van Lines agencies in Atlanta, and then retired to the Lake Oconee area. Jack was an outdoorsman and avid, accomplished hunter and traveler who is most remembered for his friendship, his gift of humor and telling stories of his adventures.
A loving and faithful husband, he is survived by Rebecca Fleming (Becky) Sharp, his wife of 47 years; Bitsy, his constant furry companion; two sisters Carol Warner of St. Simons, GA and Cindi (James) Avery of Charlotte, NC; two sisters-in-law Gay Smith and Lynn Sharp; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents James (Jack) & Dorothy Sharp; brothers Robert (Robbie) Sharp and Terry Sharp; and sister Patricia (Patsy) Samples. Although he had no children of his own, he loved and mentored many during his lifetime, both within and outside of his family, who always called him “Uncle Jack”. Jack was an honorable, good man who will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate his life on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA 30642.
