Buckhead – James Milton Stanley, 88, passed away on December 6, 2012. Mr. Stanley and his wife retired and moved to Buckhead, Georgia in 1988. He was born in Atlanta on June 23, 1924 and for many years, he and his father, James Henry Stanley, operated Stanley & Stanley designers and builders. In 1960, he graduated from John Marshall Law School. He was a World War II Army veteran and a Freemason Member of the Lakewood Masonic Lodge. In his active years, Mr. Stanley enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially trout fishing in the North Georgia mountains.
He is predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Helen Lucille Stanley. Survivors include a daughter, Verene (Renie) Stanley Rickett of Tucker, a son, James Lee Stanley and his wife Becky Stanley of Leesburg, Georgia, grandsons, Kenneth Rickett and his wife Ana Rickett of Loganville, Georgia, James Christopher Stanley and his wife Heather Stanley of Leesburg, Georgia, a granddaughter, LeAnn Rickett Chick and her husband Tom Chick of Monroe, Georgia, a great-grandson, Bradlee Rickett and several nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date at Swords United Methodist Church officiated by Dr. Anthony N. Gavalas, Pastor and Ben Parker, Pastor of Carter Hill Christian Church, Bethlehem, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Mary’s Hospice Services, P.O.
