James Milford Sims
James Milford Sims, age 80, of Greensboro, GA, died Monday, November 24, 2014 at home in Greensboro. Mr. Sims was born in Cusseta, AL on June 5, 1934 to the late Aubrey Isom Sims and Mary Kate Milford Sims. He graduated from Lanett High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Auburn University, where he was a member of ROTC. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves for 12 years rising to the rank of Captain. On August 9, 1953 he married the former Betty Joyce Henson. He retired from Jim Walter Resources, Inc/Mining Division in Alabama as the Chief Financial Officer and Marketing Director in August 1998. He traveled extensively throughout the world selling to 29 different countries. In July of 2005 he moved to Lake Oconee in Greene County from Palm Coast, FL. He was a member of Lake Oconee Community Church in Greensboro. Golfing was his favorite activity and he was on the golf course four to five days a week.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Jo Przybysz. Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Betty Sims of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Betsy Sims of Atlanta, GA; a son, Jeff Sims and wife Tish of Jacksonville, FL; grandson, Jeffrey Sims, Jr. of Seattle, WA; a sister, Carolyn Myers and husband Charles of Lanett, AL; niece, Jane Przybysz; two nephews, Al Myers and Rick Przybysz; brother-in-law, Bob Przybysz.
Memorial Services will be held Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Oconee Community Church, 1001 Village Park Drive, Suite 107, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Dr. David Key, Sr. officiating. A reception will follow at the Lake Club at Reynolds Plantation, Greensboro, GA 30642. The family request any memorials be made to American Cancer Society, for Leukemia, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
