James Grady Price
James Grady Price of the Macedonia Community in Greene County passed away on July 23, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospice in Watkinsville, GA at the age of 88. A lifelong resident of the Macedonia Community, he was born October 8, 1927 to the late James Grayford and Ethel Bell Price in Maxeys. He graduated from school in Maxeys and married Clyde Howard on October 14, 1950. They had three children, Weldon, Muriel and Tim. Along with his wife, they owned and operated Price’s Poultry Farm. He was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for many years. His favorite pastime was sitting on the porch and he also enjoyed reading.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Clyde Howard Price of the Macedonia Community; daughter, Muriel Price of Colbert; son, Tim Price (Janie) of Watkinsville, as well as one grandson, Carden Price of Athens; sisters, Carolyn Dawson and JoAnn Huff (Russell); brothers, DeWitt Price (Leila), David Price (Joan) and Lee Price (Darlene). He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Weldon Price; sisters, Hollis Bradley and Doris Van Eck; and brothers, Melvin, Douglas and infant Noel Price.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, 2721 Macedonia Church Road with The Rev. Joel Sorrow officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice, P. O. Box 6588, Athens, GA 30604 in memory of James Price. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
