James Wright Parrish, Jr

James Wright Parrish, Jr., age 80, of Greensboro, GA, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Veterans Administration Medical Center of Augusta. Born in Roopville, Georgia on December 7, 1927, he was the son of the late James Wright Parrish, Sr. and Aliene Pentecost Parrish. He graduated from Roopville High School and attended Gordon Military College, West Georgia College and transferred to the University of Georgia where he graduated in 1951. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and earned a degree in Animal Husbandry. During World War II he served in the United States Navy on the USS Abatan for two years. Until his retirement he worked for Feedright Milling Company, Con Agra and Goldkist Feed. He enjoyed small game hunting and fishing and loved to host fish fries for his friends and family. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching any sport that his children participated in, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Atlanta Braves. In his later years he especially enjoyed watching his grandsons play football at Nathanael Greene Academy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro. Since March 1, 2002, James had been living under the loving care of Willow Run Retirement Home.

He is survived by three daughters, Marian Easley and husband Ricky of Greensboro, GA, Mary Jim Chapman and husband Robbie of Greensboro, GA and Becky Parrish of Eatonton, GA; a son, Jimmy Parrish of Eatonton, GA; three grandchildren, Conrad Easley, Jimmy Easley and JoAnna Chapman; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Sellers Parrish; and a sister, Margie Hinton.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Greenview Cemetery with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating.
