James Russell “Jimmy” Moore, age 72, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Legacy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Greensboro, GA. He was born August 15, 1945 in White Plains, GA to Elizabeth Eaton Moore of Greensboro, GA and the late Russell Osborne Moore. In 1963 he graduated from Greensboro High School. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War. After his service in the Air Force he worked as a diesel mechanic in Atlanta. While living in Atlanta he met Shirley Teasley at a single’s square dance club and they were married in January of 1972. They relocated to Greensboro and he worked as a mechanic along with his cousin Allen Eaton for several years. He enjoyed big trucks and therefore he started his own trucking business, JRM Hauling, which he operated until he retired. Jimmy was a loyal member of Siloam United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was also a member of the San Marino Lodge #34 where he served as the secretary. Along with his wife, Shirley, Jimmy enjoyed canning and gardening, which he shared with friends and family. He enjoyed teasing everyone with his trivia and unusual facts, and loved reading his Bible and western novels.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Teasley Moore, on April 14, 2018. Survivors in addition to his mother, Elizabeth Moore of Greensboro, GA include a son, Zack Moore of Greensboro, GA,two brothers Kenneth Moore (Paula) and Ricky Moore (Pam) both of Greensboro, GA, his beloved dog, Paddy, and a number of other relatives and many friends.
Graveside Services with Masonic Rites will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Siloam Cemetery with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Serving as pallbearers are the members of San Marino Lodge #34. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.
