James Richard “Buddy” Lindsey, age 82, died on Monday, February 18, 2013 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro. He was born in Blue Ridge, GA on January 2, 1931 to the late Walter Lindsey, Jr. and Mary England Lindsey. He completed his high school education while serving in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska and served during the Korean Conflict. He married Gertrud Johanna Zeder on January 13, 1962. Buddy was a heavy equipment operator for Georgia Kraft for nineteen years and finished his career at NIBCO Plastics, where he retired from the maintenance department in 2000 after seventeen years. Buddy had a variety of interests including fishing, golfing, gardening and working in the yard.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Trudy Lindsey of Greensboro, GA, daughters, Chee Brown and husband Michael of the Veazey Community and Sandra Wood and husband Daniel of Greensboro, GA; sons, Tony S. Parker and wife Jenny of Maxeys, GA and Ricky Lindsey of Union Point, GA; siblings, Franklin Lindsey, Roy Lindsey, Hoyt Lindsey, Carlene Lindsey Noggle, Susan Lindsey, Doris Lindsey, Sandra Gentry and Jerry L. Gentry; grandchildren, Jennifer Parker, Jamie Duvall, Lindsey Duvall, Brianna Parker, Shay Lindsey, Jay Lindsey, Wayne Lindsey, Tommy Yearwood, Amanda Yearwood, Angela Yearwood, Brad Lindsey, Craig Stewart, Richard Shockley and Chris Shockley; a number of other relatives and many friends; and his faithful companion, Dog. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Ruth Lindsey Ray and a son, Andy Lindsey.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 1400 Farmington Road, Madison, GA 30650 with Rev. Mike Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow in the Greensboro City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Richard Curtis, Ricky Duvall, Heath Hartwell, Matt Patrick, Jamie Duvall, Jim Thurmond and Robby Cook.
