James Ronald Holliday, age 77, of Augusta, Georgia, formerly of Union Point, GA died on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Augusta, GA. Ronald was born in Union Point, GA on December 17, 1934, the son of the late Allen Holliday and Jessie Mae Jackson Holliday. He graduated from Union Point High School and attended Georgia Southern University. He served his country in the United States Army for two years and then he was in the Army Reserves. He was in Civil Service for seventeen years and after that he operated Holliday''s Grocery Store in Bairdstown and Doorkeeper Christian Book Store. He was a member of Whole Life Ministries of Augusta and a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Union Point. Ronald enjoyed gardening, a good meal, reading, especially current events, political history and the Bible. Ronald was a loving and faithful husband and stepfather and he never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Mae Meadows Holliday in July of 2010. He is survived by a stepdaughter, Judy Casper McMeekin and husband Gary of Surfside Beach, SC and two stepsons, Michael Edward Casper and wife Renee of Winterville, GA and Markus Thomas Casper of Augusta, GA; two step grandchildren, Thomas Gabriel McMeekin and Heather Nicole Casper; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Stuchell officiating. Interment will follow at Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Mike Casper, Mark Casper, Gabe McMeekin, Heather Casper, Johnny Kell, Wayne Jackson and Michael Kell. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time for the service at Callaway Funeral Home. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
