James Hodges, Jr Obituary

James Wesley Hodges, Jr., age 79, of Greensboro, GA, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He was born on July 15, 1933 in Gadsden, AL to the late James Wesley Hodges, Sr. and Omie Bell Sims Hodges. James Hodges, Jr. was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Sherry Gayle Raley of Gadsden, AL and brother, Robert Allen Hodges of Pickwick Dam, TN. Mr. Hodges was a high school graduate of Oak Ridge High School in Oak Ridge, TN and attended Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL. He served his country from 1953 to 1961 as a Seabee in the United States Navy. Mr. Hodges worked as a Graphic Illustrator for NASA at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL for 41 years where he received numerous awards of achievement and retired in November 2005. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, but skeet shooting and golf were two of his favorites. Mr. Hodges moved to Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA seven years ago from Huntsville, AL.

Mr. Hodges is survived by two sons, James Wesley Hodges, III of Montgomery, AL and Jason Robert Hodges and wife, Jan Biglane-Hodges of Fairhope, AL; two sisters, Judith Ann Miles and husband John Miles of Greensboro, GA, and Jane Whitfield of Gadsden, AL; two grandchildren, Parker Austin Hodges and Royce Aaron Hodges of Fairhope, AL; two nieces, Kim Miles of Madison, GA, and Heather Whitfield of Gadsden, AL; one nephew, Mitchell Kessler and wife, Cathy of Gadsden, AL; and grand-nephew, Mitch Kessler and wife, Kelly of Birmingham, AL, and grand-niece, Laura Kessler Haralson and husband, Josh of Memphis, TN.
