James Neilson Griffin, Sr., age 67, of the Veazey Community in Greene County, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 18, 2010 at St. Mary''s Hospice House in Bogart, GA. He was born in Ft. Pierce, FL to Lillian Bryant Griffin and the late James Harley Griffin. He attended Fort Pierce Florida High School. On May 12, 1960 he married the former Brenda Marie Kemp and in 1982 they moved to Greene County. He was the owner and operator of Griffin Trucking and later retired as a truck driver for Metal Transportation. When he was younger he raced cars, worked on motors and enjoyed NASCAR. He enjoyed cooking out and spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, Lillian Bryant Griffin of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by his wife, Brenda Kemp Griffin of the Veazey Community; three daughters, Deanna Holcomb and husband Ricky of Greensboro, GA, Lynn Brown and husband Michael of Madison, GA and Kristy Cullars of Union Point, GA; three sons, Neil Griffin Jr. and wife Susanne of Greensboro, GA, Jamey Griffin and wife Missy of Greensboro, GA and Jonah Griffin of Greensboro, GA; a sister, Gwendolyn Griffin of High Springs, FL; sixteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren with two more on the way; as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Freedom Worship Center, 6041 Madison Highway, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Wayne Powers officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are R. J. Holcomb, Jamey Griffin, Bryant Benkoski, Shane Griffin, Bradley Benkoski and Larry Meeks Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Meeks and Joshua Griffin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
