James McCarty “Jim Boy” George, age 72, of Union Point, Georgia died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Bogart, Georgia. He was born in Washington, Georgia on October 5, 1940 to the late James O. George and Thelma Mapp George. He grew up in Penfield and graduated from Greensboro High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country with honor. He served three tours in Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star. He retired from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. He was a member of Penfield Baptist Church. For enjoyment he loved to fish.
Jim Boy is survived by his wife, Ann Palmer George of Union Point, Georgia; a daughter, Andrea Ruth Cronan of Eatonton, Georgia; a sister, Sara Ann Caldwell of Peachtree City, Georgia; three grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Penfield Cemetery, 1211 Cemetery Road, Penfield, Georgia 30669 with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating.
