James William Eckert, born June 2, 1931, died on June 22, 2014. He was 83. Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa he was the son of the late Carl William Eckert and Anna Munch Eckert. James graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs and he married Phyllis Jane Dollen. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in September of 1951. For thirty-seven years he worked as a sales manager for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation retiring in 1987. In July of 1993 he moved from Roswell, GA to Lake Oconee where he enjoyed golfing and was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Eckert of Greensboro, GA; two sons, David Eckert of Colorado Springs, CO and Daniel Eckert of Griffin, GA; grandson, Matthew Eckert and wife Laura and their children, Bradley, Ella and Shelby of Colorado Springs, CO., sister Joan Bunten of Iowa and brother Richard Eckert of Arizona.
