James Boswell “Jimmy” Dolvin, Jr. of Greensboro, GA, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Piedmont Athens Regional in Athens, GA. He was 70. Jimmy was born on December 18, 1946 in Atlanta Georgia, the son of the late James Boswell “J. B.” Dolvin, Sr. and Jean Miller Dolvin. He graduated from Greensboro High School and attended Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA. Jimmy married the former Cheryl Leach on May 3, 1969. He was the owner of Watkinsville Woodyard and for the last eighteen years, he worked for Reynolds Lake Oconee as the Golf Maintenance Operator. Most of his life he was an avid Georgia football fan and enjoyed gardening, camping and going to the mountains. He was a member of Siloam Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Dolvin of Greensboro, GA; daughter, Crystal Dolvin Brown of Bogart, GA; son, James Boswell “Jim” Dolvin III (Kimberly) of Monroe, GA; two brothers, William Robert “Bobby” Dolvin (Teresa) of Watkinsville, GA, Ralph Leonard “Len” Dolvin (Janice) of Sparta, GA; grandchildren, Delainey Brown, Ingrid Dolvin, and Amelia Dolvin; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Jack Eberhart, Russell McCain, Glen Johnson, David Mayo, Donald Clements, and Edward “Red Top” Clements. Honorary pallbearers will be Niles Webb and Jamie Eley.
