James Meneice Byers of Eatonton, GA passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the age of 62 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Athens, GA. He was born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania on May 4, 1950, the son of the late James Robert Byers and Mary Louise Meneice Byers. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania and attended college in Hookstown, Ohio. He was a devoted husband, father and servant of the Lord and was the owner and operator of Kingfort Homes in Eatonton, GA. Jim enjoyed making jewelry, furniture, restoring old cars and building houses. He was extremely gifted with his hands and was mechanically minded. Jim attended the mens class at Bible Fellowship Church in Eatonton and G men at Atlas Ministries in Greensboro. He was also a deacon at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church and a member of Lake Oconee Area Builders Association. Jim had lived on Lake Oconee since 1988 and married Terry Hampton on January 12, 1990.
In addition to his devoted wife, Terry Hampton Byers of Eatonton, GA, he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Hampton Spurlin and husband David of Watkinsville, GA and Lauren Caldwell of Bostwick, GA; son, John Caldwell and wife Eoy of Ponte-Vedra, FL; brother-in-law, James Harrison of Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Grady Lake Spurlin, John Dawson Caldwell, Michael William Caldwell and Robert Hampton Caldwell; niece, Kathleen Harrison; nephew, James Harrison; and a number of other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Elizabeth "Beth" Harrison.
A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church, 113 Scott Road, Eatonton, GA 31024 with Rev. Mike Willard officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
