James Anthony Blankenship, 49, of Athens, Georgia formerly of White Plains, Georgia died Saturday, July 2, 2011 from a motorcycle accident. He was born in San Francisco, California on July 12, 1961, the son of the late Ana Sylvia Blankenship and Robert D. Blankenship, Sr. He graduated from Stafford Virginia High School and attended two years of technical school in Virginia. For four years he served his country in the United States Army stationed in Alaska, Fort Polk Louisiana and in Kentucky. He was an Insurance Agent for Primerica and was the owner of Blankenship Audio and Video. James was a member of Bethlehem First Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and biking.

He is survived by his wife, Trina K. Blankenship; sons, Joel Blankenship of Athens, GA and Caleb Blankenship of Clintwood, VA; father, Robert D. Blankenship, Sr and stepmother Carolyn Blankenship of White Plains, GA; four sisters, Ivonne Studds of Marietta, GA, Carmen Blankenship of Huntsville, AL, Sylvia Elena Gaidowski of Florida and Chloe Haidet and husband Doug of Marietta, GA; three stepsisters, Donna Spence of Winchester, VA, Theresa Lloyd of Winchester, VA and Mildred Blankenship of Matewan, WV; three brothers, Luis Blankenship and wife Christina of Huntsville, AL, Joe Blankenship and wife Jennifer of Huntsville, AL and Robert Blankenship Jr. and wife Amy of Springville, AL; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at White Plains Baptist Church, 1020 Main Street, White Plains, GA 30678 with Rev. Jody Hice officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Luis Blankenship, Joe Blankenship, Bobby Blankenship, Douglas Haidet, Robbie Hall and Jim Litchford. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday July 5th and 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday July 6th at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
