Jackie Oliver McNair

Jackie Oliver McNair, age 68, of Ila, Georgia, died on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Athens, GA. A native of Greene County he was born July 19, 1941 to the late Rance Cicero McNair and Rhoda Belle Newsome McNair. As a child he attended school in Siloam and later attended school in Union Point. After school he joined the United States Army as a Paratrooper and continued his education to be an Engineer Equipment Repairman and Diesel Mechanic. He served for nine years during the cold war period in Korea and Germany. He worked for Acousti, Walton Acoustics that became Athens Drywall and later a part of Sallom Construction where he was Construction Foreman. His last employment was with Simco Interiors. Jackie enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club, the North American Fishing Club and the Stamp Branch Deer Club.

Jackie is survived by his wife, Joanne Lewis McNair of Ila, GA; two sons, Jackie Cicero "Junior" McNair of Vidalia, GA and Leahman Rance "Mac" McNair of Ila, GA; two sisters, Pauline Lavender of White Plains, GA and Sara Barfield of Cannon, GA; two brothers, James Henry McNair Sr. of Vidalia, GA and Albert C. McNair Sr. of Greensboro, GA and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by twin sisters, Madeline McNair and Jodene Sanders.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the McCommons Chapel in Greensboro with Rev. Gerald Beatty officiating. Interment will follow at the Siloam Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Sammy McNair, Paul McNair, Dennis Washington, Don Sanders, Derrick Nursey, L. C. Cantrell, Ray Hood, Billy "Tic" Jarrard and Lee Portwood. Serving as honorary pallbearers are all the nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
