Jack Malcom, 82, of the Greshamville Community in Greene County died Saturday, June 12, 2004 in Greshamville. Born November 8, 1921 in Morgan County, he was the son of the late William P. Malcom and Annie Lou Clotfelter Malcom. He graduated from Greshamville School. During World War II he was drafted by the United States Army but volunteered for the United States Navy. His working career started on the assembly line of the Chevrolet Truck Company in Atlanta. After his father died, he came home to take care of his mother working on their cotton farm and at Enterprise Aluminum in Eatonton. Later he was a Cable Supervisor with Bell South and owned and operated Jack Malcom''s Grocery Store at the Apalachee River. He also helped his son with commercial fishing. All of his life he farmed and loved to fish and hunt. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlie Martin Malcom in October of 2003; and a son Henry Malcom in December of 2001. He is survived by three daughters, Jacqueline M. Askew and husband Doug of Greensboro, GA, Frances M. Dyer and husband Robert of Athens, GA and Charlotte M. Haile of Watkinsville, GA; a son, William Malcom and wife Diane of the Greshamville Community; a sister, Ruth Innucci of Fort Lauderdale, FL; eleven grandchildren, Tim Askew, Jack Askew, Mary Bradley, Catherine Morris, Pamela Callaway, John Cronic, Michael Dyer, Amanda Malcom, Kristy Malcom, Renee Webb and Amy Wetmore; and ten great grandchildren, Zach Webb, Alissa Webb, Jessica Bradley, Angela Peart, Rick Morris, Whitney Foster, Ryan Callaway, Grace Wetmore, Bryan Bryant and Shannon Hawkins.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Greshamville with Rev. Ferris Hardin, Rev. Durell Rice and Rev. Mike Pritchett officiating. Serving as pallbearers are John Cronic, Tim Askew, Jack Askew, Michael Dyer, Doug Webb, Rick Morris, Zach Webb, Ryan Callaway, Bryan Bryant and Shannon Hawkins. The family requests that any memorials may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church, 311 E. Greene Street, Greensboro, Georgia 30642.
