Irene Pound Peden

Irene Elizabeth Pound Peden, age 90, of Sparta, Georgia, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at St. Mary''s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro. Mrs. Peden was born April 4, 1923, in Sparta, GA to the late Marvin Gilbert Pound, Sr. and Camille Berry Pound. She graduated from Sparta High School and received a Bachelor''s Degree from Wesleyan College. She married Oscar McVey Peden on October 16, 1945 at the Pierce Memorial Methodist Church in Sparta. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar McVey Peden. Mrs. Peden is survived by a daughter, Beth Peden Webster and husband Fred of Sparta, GA; a son Marvin McVey "Mac" Peden and wife Suzanne of Dunwoody, GA; a brother, Marvin Gilbert Pound, Jr. of Sparta, GA; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a number of other relatives and many friends.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Sparta City Cemetery, Hamilton Street, Sparta, GA 31087 with Rev. Marvin Mason officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the Annex of Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church, 21 Boland Street, Sparta, GA 31087.
