Irene Jackson Obituary

Irene Walker Jackson, age 87, of Union Point, Georgia, died on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. Mrs. Jackson was born in Siloam, GA on October 2, 1924 the daughter of the late David Lee Walker and Mary Sosebee Walker. She graduated from Alexander Stephens Institute and married Robert Glenn Jackson, Jr. on February 26, 1944. She worked in the Finishing Department at Chipman Union in Union Point retiring in 1988. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Union Point. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and enjoyed her family, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn Jackson, Jr. in May of 1998; a daughter, Glenda Jackson Taylor; a sister Ovelene Walker Bentley; three brothers, David Lee Walker, Gilbert Walker and Clinton "Brownie" Walker. She is survived by two sons, Wayne Jackson of Union Point, GA and Stan Jackson and wife Sandy of Murfreesboro, TN; a daughter, Marsha Swann and husband Tommy of Union Point, GA; five brothers, Clifford Walker of Buckhead, GA, Alvin Walker of Union Point, GA, Linton "Whitey" Walker of Winston, GA, Franklin Walker of Murfreesboro, TN and Talmadge Walker of Newnan, GA; five grandchildren, Jennifer Harwell, Holly and Brent Roland, Christopher and Brittany Jackson, Jessica and Nick Allen, Russell Jackson and fiance'' Kristen McKnight; three great grandchildren, Thomas Jackson, Leighton Jackson and Owen Jackson; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 20, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Bruce Lovin and Rev. Jim Olds officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Christopher Jackson, Russell Jackson, Brent Roland, Nick Allen, Edward Dingler and Gene Lindsey. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday night at Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
