Howard Smith Obituary

Howard Nelson Smith, age 62, of Union Point, GA died Sunday, January 25, 2004 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. A native of Warren, OH, he was born on January 7, 1942 to Sleetie Detamore Smith Berry of Union Point, GA and the late Howard Cogay Smith, but had lived in Greene County since 1986. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1959 and Glennville State College in West Virginia. In 2000 he retired as a Quality Control Manager from Bristol Pipe which was formerly Pioneer Pipe. He was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Donna Poss Smith of Union Point, GA; a daughter, April Lynn Smith of Atlanta, GA; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Luann Silvey of Union Point, GA and Brittany Diane Silvey of Union Point, GA; a son, Howard Shawn Smith of West Virginia; two stepsons, Ricky Shawn Silvey of Union Point, GA and Brandon Edward Silvey of Union Point, GA; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Smith.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Jim Olds officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Parrish Rallen, Amazing Brake, Clinton Maxwell, Darrel Maxwell, Jack Kendrick and Frankie Hunter.
