Howard Leroy Schilt

H. Leroy Schilt, 86, formally of Kankakee passed away September 1, 2014 at Greene Point Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Union Point, GA. He was born November 13, 1927 in Olney, IL the son of Howard and Vera (Fritschle) Schilt. He married Nesta Mann July 9, 1950 in DeSelm, who preceded him in death and on June 20, 1991 he married Eleanor Kirk in Woodville, GA and she resides in Greene County, GA.

Leroy was a graduate of Olney High School and the University of Illinois. He was employed by the Ralston Purina Company as a Director of Regulatory Compliance and retired after 36 years of service.

Leroy is survived by his wife Eleanor of Greene County, GA; daughter and son in law Sandra (Fred) Nelson of Punta Gorda, FL; granddaughter Rachel Heeb and grandsons Christopher Heeb and Matthew Heeb.

He is preceded in death by his first wife and parents.

A time for family and friends to gather will be held at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home, Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 10 am until the 11am funeral service. Burial will follow at Mound Grove Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
