Horace Fielden Nickelson, age 67, of Greensboro, GA died Monday, December 15, 2003 at Athens Regional Medical Center. He was born in DeKalb County on May 4, 1936 to the late Matt Alexander Nickelson and Mary Florine Cunningham Nickelson. He graduated from Greensboro High School and worked in the cloth room at Mary Leila Cotton Mill. Then he joined the United States Army in 1958 for two years and he was stationed in Baltimore, MD. He was a General Contractor and a member of West End Baptist Church. In his spare time he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Miller Nickelson, of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Deborah Brown of Greensboro, GA; a sister Rebecca Taylor of Eatonton, GA; a brother, Alvin Nickelson of Augusta, GA; and a grandson, Jason Brown of Greensboro, GA. He was preceded in death by a son, Horace Edward Nickelson; and two brothers, Jim Nickelson and Ed Nickelson.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Greensboro City Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Usry and Rev. Robert Robinson officiating. The family requests that any memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605.
