Hilda Lunsford Moore

Mrs. Hilda Lunsford Moore, age 89, a longtime resident of Greensboro, GA passed away on Thursday afternoon, February 5, 2015, at the Retreat of Osprey Village on Amelia Island, Florida.  Born in Siloam, GA on September 14, 1925, she was the third of eight children born to the late Clifford Kilpatrick Lunsford and Mary Adelene Rhodes Lunsford.  As a child she grew up in Siloam where she attended Siloam High School.  After graduating from high school she moved to Atlanta and worked for Trust Company Bank of Georgia.  In 1945 she married Charles Bayne Cheeley, a native of Sparta, Georgia.  The Cheeley’s lived in Milledgeville where they had two sons and a daughter.  Ron was born in 1950, David was born in 1953 and Sue was born in 1954.  Mr. Cheeley passed away in 1959.  At the time of her husband’s passing, she and her children moved to Greensboro.  She married William Asa “Bill” Moore in the early 1960’s.  The Moore family remained in Greensboro where they raised Ron, David and Sue.  Mr. Moore passed away in 2009.  Mrs. Moore continued to live in Greensboro where she was active in the First Baptist Church and served as Secretary of the Fidelis Sunday School Class.  Mrs. Moore came to Amelia Island in April of 2014 to be near her sons, where she remained until her passing.

In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford K. Lunsford, Jr.  Mrs. Moore leaves behind her sons, C. Ron Cheeley and his wife Dorothy, Amelia Island, FL, David Lee Cheeley, Greensboro, GA, a daughter, Janet Sue Cheeley, Greensboro, GA, brothers, Walter Lunsford, Atlanta, GA, Clayton Lunsford, Madison, GA, Ricky Lunsford, Madison, GA, three sisters, Emma Jean Cook, Greensboro, GA, Marguerite Whitehead, Gray, GA, Diane Wood, Clemson, SC, six grandchildren, Ashley Cheeley Shippey, C. Andrew Cheeley, David Bayne Cheeley, Memory Boswell Cheeley Edwards, William Harrison Cheeley, Clancey Bayne Cheeley, seven great grandchildren, Patrick Tison, Vivian Gail, Mason Kole, Rilan Paige, Kylie Rae, Charles Bayne, Mary Scarlett and numerous nieces and nephews

Funeral Services will be held, Monday, February 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Michael Hardy officiating.  Interment will follow in the Siloam Cemetery, Church Street, Siloam, Georgia 30665.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.  Serving as pallbearers are Bayne Cheeley, Harrison Cheeley, Andrew Cheeley, Patrick Shippey and Keith Edwards.  The family request that donations can be made to the First Baptist Church, 203 S.
