Henry Jefferson “Hank” Barnes, age 27, of Meridianville, AL, formerly of Union Point, GA, died Thursday, September 28, 2006 at Huntsville Hospital in Alabama. Born in Greene County, GA on September 6, 1979, he was the son of Francis Lloyd “Frank” Barnes Jr. and Jane Baker Barnes of Union Point. Henry graduated from Oglethorpe County High School in 1998 and Georgia Tech in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. He worked as a Computer Engineer with Nvidia out of Huntsville, AL. Henry was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Union Point. He was a pilot who loved flying planes in his spare time and was a member of SORBA (Southeastern Off-Road Bicycle Association) Madison County Shooting Sports Association Inc. and AOPA (Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association).
In addition to his parents, Frank and Jane Barnes of Union Point, GA, he is survived by two sisters, Julie Barnes and husband Tom Bavis of Athens, GA and Mary Katherine Barnes of Chapel Hill, NC; a brother, Bud Barnes and wife Theodora Dragostinova of Montgomery, AL; a nephew, Alex Barnes of Montgomery, AL and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Union Point with The Rev. Dr. Jan Blissit officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers are his friends and classmates from Georgia Tech. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
