Helen Stanley Withrow, age 98, of Greensboro, GA, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at her home. A lifelong resident, she was born in the Veazey Community on July 24, 1914 to the late Lucius Peak Stanley and Adeline "Addie" Virginia Moon Stanley. She graduated from Greensboro High School. After marrying Charles Edward Withrow, Sr., they lived in Bristol, TN while he worked for The Tennessee Valley Authority, but moved back to Greene County in 1944. As health permitted she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church North Campus of Greensboro for seventy-two years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Withrow, Sr.; a daughter, Brenda Withrow Nachman; and siblings, Mabel S. Brown, Stella S. Stanley, Eliza S. Squadrito, Hazel S. Durrence, Hugh Stanley and Leroy Stanley. She is survived by a son, Charles Edward Withrow, Jr. and wife Jan of Manchester, GA; sister, Dorothy S. Biddy of Washington, GA; two granddaughters, Karen Faibishenko and husband Andrew and Kelly Tabickman; great grandchildren, Alex and Isabelle Amos and Michael, Sarah, Jacob and Daniel Faibishenko; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church North Campus in Greensboro with Rev. Richard Chewning officiating. Interment will follow in the Greensboro City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Lewis Brown, Stanley Brown, Dylan Carson, Joe Durrence, Ron Dodson and Myron Maxey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday night at the historic Hall-Thomas House, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642.
