Hazel Stanley Durrence, age 81, of Tucker, GA, died Sunday, October 7, 2007 at her home. She was born in Greene County on February 25, 1926 to the late Lucius Peak Stanley and Adeline "Addie" Virginia Moon Stanley. When she was a child she attended school in Siloam, GA and graduated from Thomson High School in Thomson, GA. For thirty years she worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell.
In addition to her husband, Joe Earl Durrence, of Tucker, GA she is survived by a daughter, Carole Ann Carson of Byron, GA, three sons, Raymond Hill of Atlanta, GA, Paul Durrence of Buford, GA and Joey Durrence of Winder, GA; two sisters, Helen S. Withrow of Greensboro, GA and Dorothy S. Biddy of Washington, GA; grandchildren, Cindy Carson, Dylan Carson, Olivia Durrence, Conner Durrence and Emma Durrence; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by siblings, Mabel S. Brown, Stella S. Stanley, Eliza S. Squadrito, Hugh Stanley and Leroy Stanley.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Greensboro with Rev. Richard Chewning officiating. Interment will follow in the Siloam Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Lewis Brown, Stanley Brown, Dylan Carson, Jeff Durrence, Edward Withrow and Myron Maxey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home.
