Hazel Cannon Obituary

Hazel Lee Herrington Cannon, 68, of Greensboro, GA died Monday, May 31, 2004 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. One of six children she was born in Greene County, Georgia on October 18, 1935 to the late John Wesley Herrington and Willie Bea Strickland Herrington. She was a graduate of Greensboro High School, a member of NGA Grandparent''s Club and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Greshamville. During her working career, she worked for Wellington Puritan in Madison, Lena-Hy Garment Company, Sunrise Food Stores and Apalachee Bait Shop.

She was preceded in death by her husband Truman David Cannon, Jr. in 1974; a son, Terry W. Cannon in 2003; four sisters, Alma Porter, Agnes Tarpley, Elizabeth Scarborough and Lillian Morrow; and a brother, Elmer Herrington. She is survived by two sons, George "Corky" Cannon and wife Marsha of the Greshamville Community and Doug Cannon of Greensboro, GA; eight grandchildren, Phillip Cannon, David Cannon, George Cannon, Jr., Lisa Lynn Cannon, Nichole Cannon, Jonie W. Chapman, Dana W. Cashwell and Jenna W. Hyman; ten great grandchildren, James Preston Huckaby, Taylor Brook Cannon, Courtney Nichole Huckaby, Jasmine Whitlock, Justin Whitlock, Tristiana Chapman, Tristian Chapman, Allyssa Adams, Donovan Cashwell and Quantterio Hyman, Jr.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Pritchett and Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers are Larry Cannon, Mike Herrington, Larry Herrington, Ray Sellers, Ronnie Sellers, Donald Ogle and Harold Batchelor. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the employees of Cannon Transport, Inc. The family requests that any memorials may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church, 311 E. Greene Street, Greensboro, Georgia 30642 for the Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital Nursing Staff. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
