Hattie Magnolia Christopher Mize, age 84, of Greensboro, GA, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at her son''s home in West Point. Born in Clarke County on July 5, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Christopher and Mattie Weatherford Christopher. Hattie grew up and attended school in Athens, GA. She was a textile worker for Mary-Leila Cotton Mill in Greensboro and Chipman Union in Union Point. For fifteen years she worked as a fiberglass finisher and inspector for Universal Rundle Corp. in Union Point. She was a member of West End Baptist Church of Greensboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Latin Mize, Sr. in December of 1996; daughters, Betty Mize and Lucretia F. Harwell; and twelve siblings. She is survived by three daughters, Jenny Yearwood-Parker and husband Tony of Stephens, GA, Sandra Johnson of Dallas, GA and Brenda Edwards and husband Jim of White Plains, GA; seven sons, James W. "Sonny" Fitzpatrick and wife Shirley of West Point, GA, Dennis G. Mize and wife Angelynn of Milledgeville, GA, Gary Mize and wife Janet of Greensboro, GA, Robert "Billy" Mize and wife Sandra of Batesburg-Leesville, SC, Millard Mize and wife Judy of Royston, GA, Larry Mize and wife Betty of Mansville, GA and Gerald Mize and wife Judy of Mansville, GA; thirty-two grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro with Rev. Dennis Garner officiating. Interment will follow at Greensboro City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons: Cody Mize, Dan Mize, Russ Mize, Jamey Fitzpatrick, Tony McCannon, Skipper Mize, Cliff Mize, Robert Mize, Lance Branyon, Tommy Johnson, Alan Johnson and Mitch Mize.
