Harriet Katherine Denney Bryan, age 70, of Union Point, GA, died Sunday, November 8, 2009 at her residence. She was born November 15, 1938 in Stanton, Nebraska to Mildred Jean Zagst of Berthoud, CO and the late Richard Russell Denney. Mrs. Bryan was a graduate of Hastings Senior High School and received her degree in Secondary Education from Hastings College. Following graduation she was a flight attendant for United Airlines. She was very active in community affairs and was a member of numerous organizations such as the Greene County Library Board, past president of the Union Point Garden Club and served on the Georgia Council for the Arts. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Union Point where she played the organ for a number of years. Harriet was a loving and devoted wife and mother who enjoyed baking, art and playing music.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, Francis Sibley Bryan, Jr. of Union Point, GA; two daughters, Harriet Collier Bryan and husband Christopher Torii Ackerman of Atlanta, GA and Frances Jean Bryan and husband Corey Douglas Gordon of Pawleys Island, SC; a son, Francis Sibley Bryan, III of Union Point, GA; two brothers, Douglas Allan Denney of Loveland, CO and Stephen Gregory Denney and wife Emma of Fort Collins, CO; two grandchildren, Ashlen Lilla Gordon and William Grey Gordon; and a number of other friends and relatives.
Private Funeral Services will be held at Wisteria Cemetery in Union Point on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. A viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point. Serving as pallbearers will be Corey Gordon, Chris Ackerman, Tim Bramlett, Lanier Rhodes, Bill Gordon and John Osborne. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of the First Presbyterian Church. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Union Point with Rev. Dr. James Choomack and Rev. Stephen Jackson officiating followed by a reception for friends at the family''s home, 3090 Bethany Church Road.
