Harold Milton Meadows, Jr., 75, of Union Point, Georgia, died suddenly on Sunday, February 5, 2017. He was born on March 22, 1941, in Washington, GA, to the late Harold Milton Meadows, Sr. and Mary Meeks Meadows. Milton grew up in Union Point, where he received his education from Union Point High School. After high school he received a Business Management Degree from Marsh Business College and an Electronics Degree from Clarksville Tech. Milton was preceded in death by Natalie Rose Broome, his previous wife and the mother of his children. He married the former Nita Moon on June 7, 1992 and they lived in Union Point. His working career began in Atlanta as an Associate for the First National Bank of Atlanta, then the Cherokee Town and Country Club. He moved to Pensacola, FL where he worked for Roadway Inn and then to Mobile, AL working for Holiday Inn. When he returned to Greene County he owned and operated Milt’s Army Navy Store in Greensboro. Then Milton worked for the Union Point Post Office as a mail carrier. After retiring from the post office, he worked for McCommons Funeral Home and Callaway Funeral Home as a receptionist and funeral assistant leaving due to his health. He was a faithful member of the Bethesda Baptist Church. A passion for fishing and boating accompanied his love for collecting guns. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
In addition to his wife, Nita Meadows of Union Point, GA, he is survived by his children, David Meadows of Union Point, GA, Julie Davenport (Darren) of Greensboro, GA and Yalonde Tanner (Hugh) of Covington, GA; sister, Susan Higdon (Mark) of Greensboro, GA; grandchildren, Alex Stonecipher (Jenny), Hiliary Conn (Billy), Cliff Worthen, Meagan Worthen, Karlea Tanner, Natalie Chastain Davenport, Victoria Davenport and Spencer Tanner; five great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his first wife, Natalie, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Anthony “Tony” Worthen. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Candy and grand dog, Gilbert.
A memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time for the service at the church. A reception will follow the service. There will be a private burial.
