Harold Calvin Sorrow, Jr.
Harold Calvin “Moose” Sorrow, Jr., age 59, of Union Point, GA died Sunday, December 14, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA. Born in Greensboro, GA on October 3, 1955, he was the son of Elizabeth Moon Sorrow and the late Harold Calvin Sorrow, Sr. He grew up in Conyers, GA and attended school at Rockdale County High School and was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church. In 1978 he began his working career for Edison’s Plastics in Washington, GA which later became Berry Plastics Corporation. He retired in 2010 after 31 years of service. On April 4, 1981 he married the former Phyllis Moody of Greensboro, GA. His family moved back to Greene County in August of this year after living in Washington, GA for 33 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, playing almost all sports and watching football.
In addition to his mother, Elizabeth Moon Sorrow of Woodville, GA, Moose is survived by his wife, Phyllis Moody Sorrow of Union Point, GA; sons, Harold Calvin Sorrow III and James Hamp Sorrow; sister, Ann Silvey and husband Gerald of Woodville, GA; sisters-in-law, Nonie Canup and husband Glen and Beth Moody; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Calvin Sorrow, Sr. in 1993.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at Callaway Funeral Home. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
