Harold "Boot" Jones

Harold "Boot" Jones entered into rest Saturday, July 28, 2018. He was 90 years old.  He was the husband of the late Gwendolyn Wheeler Jones and the son of the late Reuben Henry and Willie Jordan Jones.  Mr. Jones was a native of Taliaferro County and served his country in the United States Army spending a year and six months in Japan.  He was a retired truck driver from Spector Freight Line and a member of the Teamsters Local #509. Mr. Jones was a faithful member of Margaret’s Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Jones is survived by his son, Ronald Harold “Ronnie” Jones, Sr. (Janet) of Graniteville, SC; two grandchildren, Ronald Harold “Ron” Jones, Jr. (Cecilia Beaufort) and Kelli Jones Walker (Tyrone); five great grandchildren, Ron Jones III, Emma Elizabeth Jones, Lily Anna Jones, Alexis Dora Walker and Layla Nicole Walker; two sisters, Hazel (Jack) Bentley of Sparta, GA and Helen Taylor of Jackson, GA; brother, Walter Jones of White Plains, GA; sister-in-law, Wilma Jones of Crawfordville, GA; brother-in-law, Jack (Jane) Wheeler of Elberton, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Gholston “Bay” Jones.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Margaret’s Grove Baptist Church, 1791 Margaret’s Grove Rd. SW, Crawfordville, GA 30631 with Rev. Albert Stroup officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Margaret’s Grove Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers are Stan Jackson, Herbert Rhodes, Cliff Swygert, Joey Rhodes, Chris Adams and Chris Wheeler.  Honorary pallbearer will be Randy Taylor.  Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
