Gwenell Poole Moon

Gwenell Poole Moon, age 76, of Washington, GA formerly of Union Point, GA, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, GA. Mrs. Moon was born in Commerce, Georgia in Banks County on September 27, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Will Watt Poole and Minnie Naomi Poole and the last of thirteen children. She graduated from Morgan County High School and married Kyle Alexander Moon on July 9, 1949. For a while she worked at Lena Hy in Greensboro and later for Chipman Union in Union Point. Over the years she worked for every department and retired after thirty years as a scheduler in the dye department. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed reading and gardening, especially with flowers. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union Point.

Mrs. Moon was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Alexander Moon in March of 1994; a daughter, Janet Lynn Moon in 1958; a son, William Keith Moon in July of 1980; and all of her siblings, Myrtle Irene, Clarence Gartrell, Esco Bryson, Rudolph Melton, Cora Belle, Boyd Thomas, Clarice Lillian, Sara Marie, Eloise Elizabeth, Marion Francis, William Garnett and an infant that died at birth. She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Moon Hubbard and husband Dean of Washington, GA; three sons, Thurmond "Buddy" Moon and wife Kathy of Conyers, GA, Tommy Moon and wife Nancy of Conyers, GA and Tony Moon of Athens, GA; five grandchildren, Michael Todd Moon, Christopher Alexander Moon, Joseph Bradley Fulcher, Justin Thomas Moon and Holly Lyneth Moon; six great grandchildren, Riley, Reagan, Rachel, Rebecca, Silas and Alex; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Moon''s Academy Cemetery, Moon''s Academy Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Bert Mathews officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Todd Moon, Christopher Alexander Moon, Justin Thomas Moon, Joseph Bradley Fulcher, Dean Hubbard and Jimmy Peugh. The honorary pallbearer is Holly Lyneth Moon. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Callaway Funeral Home. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
