Grace Wilson Holcomb of White Plains, GA, died early Sunday morning, January 10, 2016 at her residence.  She was 89.  Born in Monticello, GA on December 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late George Rufus Wilson and Berta Goodman Wilson.  When she was a teenager the family moved to Union Point where she attended Union Point High School and after high school married David Martin Holcomb.  After working many years at Union Manufacturing she was a homemaker and worked beside her husband on their family farm.  In October of 1971 they became the owners of Holcomb’s Bar-B-Que in White Plains and Greensboro which she continued to operate with her daughters after her husband’s death.  She was a longtime and faithful member of White Plains Baptist Church where she took care of the nursery for fifty years and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society.  Grace was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading  and spending time with her children and grandchildren and great-grand daughter.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband David Holcomb in May of 1994; and siblings, Leroy Wilson, Ethel Morton, Leona Simpson, Ruth Brooks and two infant brothers who died at birth.  She is survived by her devoted daughters, Jan Eley (Phil) and Sandra Askew (Allen) all of White Plains, GA; sister, Annie W. Ellis of Sparta, GA; grandchildren, Matthew Eley, Kelly Eley Wall (Russell), Jessye Eley (Thomas), Erica Edwards and Luke Askew (Autumn); great grandchild, Hallie Elizabeth Wall; a number of other relatives and many friends.  The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Jackie, Nicole, Brenda, Tabitha and Reena.  
 
Funeral Services will be held, Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at White Plains Baptist Church, 1020 Main Street East, White Plains, GA 30678 with Rev. Craig Foster officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the church.  Serving as pallbearers are Matthew Eley, Luke Askew, Russell Wall, Thomas Pena, Adam Taylor and Wayne Taylor.   Any memorials may be made to White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery Maintenance Fund, P.
