Gloria Rountree Obituary

Gloria Metts Rountree, age 83, of Buckhead, Georgia, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 after a lengthy illness. A native of Orangeburg, SC Gloria was born on May 7, 1929 the daughter of the late Harry Lawrence Metts and Uldine Hall Metts. Gloria was the eldest of three girls and was very active in her church. She attended Winthrop College, worked in the medical field and retired from Lester Eye Center in Atlanta as a medical secretary. She moved from Atlanta to Buckhead in 1994 and attended Swords United Methodist Church.

Ms. Rountree is survived by her children Kimberly Rhodes of Columbia, SC, Harry Rountree (BJ) of Rogersville, AL, Kris Gordon (Robert) of Buckhead, GA, Jack Rountree (Jamie) of Buckhead, GA and Michael Rountree (Melissa) of Prattville, AL,; two sisters, Dolores Banner of Gastonia, NC and Betty Threatt of Columbia, SC. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

O Lord O Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! Who hast set thy glory above the heavens. I will be glad and rejoice in thee; I will sing praise to thy name. The Lord shall endure forever; he hath prepared his throne for judgement. The Lord will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble and sorrow. They that know thy name will put their trust in thee. Fear not for me; for I have been called home to be with the Lord.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Anthony N. Gavalas officiating. Ms. Rountree will be laid at rest at the Buckhead Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home.
