Gerald Carter Weaver of Marietta, Ga. passed away on October 25, 2017 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital at the age of 77 from a pulmonary condition. Gerald was born in Chamblee, GA on September 4, 1940 and was the son of Young Carter Weaver and Geraldine Rhodes. He graduated from Chamblee High School in 1958 and furthered his education at Baylor University, Waco, Texas and Ga. State University, Atlanta, GA . He proudly served his country in the Army National Reserves with one of those years being in the jungles of Vietnam.
Mr. Weaver was a member of Johns Creek Baptist Church, Alpharetta, GA . He worked for The First National Bank of Atlanta, where he met and married the former Shirley Underwood of White Plains, GA on August 20, 1966. Later Mr. Weaver joined General Motors’s Doraville Plant where he worked until his retirement in 2010.
In addition to his devoted wife of fifty-one years, Gerald is survived by a sister, Carol Moss of Salem, S. C. and several nieces and nephews. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Jeffrey Weaver and Michael Leon Weaver. Gerald loved his family and enjoyed the many family get-togethers over the years especially those in the country. In addition, his enjoyment in life included camping, watching sports, the beach, NASCAR and last but not least his St. Bernard pet, Sam.
Gerald will be greatly missed but he did not want to be mourned, but rather remembered as a person who loved and enjoyed each day of life to the fullest.
