Gerald Strozier Obituary

Gerald Strozier of Union Point, Georgia, died on Monday, October 14, 2013 at the age of 83. Gerald was born in Cobbtown, GA on September 30, 1930 the son of the late Cyrus Stephen Strozier and Wealtha Jarriel Strozier. He attended Union Point High School. On February 27, 1949, he married Ozella Adkins. For thirty-five years, Gerald worked for the Life of Georgia Insurance Company retiring in 1989. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he was active as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and treasurer. He was also a member of the Greene County Country Club in Union Point. Gerald was an avid sportsman who loved to fish, hunt, golf and play softball.

In addition to his parents, Cyrus and Wealtha Strozier, he was preceded in death by a son, Ray Strozier; grandchildren, Amy and Jason Lamar, a great grandchild, Brittney Hope Smith; brother, Gene Strozier; and a son-in-law, Bobby Lamar. He is survived by his wife, Ozella Strozier of Union Point, GA; two daughters, Geraldine Lamar of Union Point, GA and Martha Dover and husband Terry of Auburn, GA; grandchildren, Holly and Bryan Young, Brad and Brandi Dover, Kim Smith and Rae Lynn Strozier and great grandchildren, Brooke, Brianna and Brandon Dover, Bradley Vandiver, James and Alex Smith, Emily Strozier, David Adriance and Stephen Corry and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 3963 Union Point Highway, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Bobby Tomlin and Rev. Jack Tomlin officiating. Mr. Strozier will lie in state at Bethel Baptist Church on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until time for the service. Serving as pallbearers are Bryan Young, Brad Dover, Terry Dover, John Paul Farmer, Josh Farmer and Bobby Brooks. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Bethel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
