Georgia Louise Fitz Scranton, 84, of Corbin, KY died Monday, July 22, 2002 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center of Corbin. Born January 13, 1918 in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of the late Clarence R. and Dena Dolvin Fitz, and stepdaughter of the late Millie Fitz. Mrs. Scranton was a homemaker, a Kentucky Colonel and an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, The Corbin Senior Center, Felts Homemakers, Corbin AARP and the Corbin Chapter of Railroad Retirees.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Scranton on November 2, 1980. She is survived by two daughters, Georgia Wyatt and husband Keith of Corbin, KY and Bonnie Scranton of Enon, OH; two brothers, Clarence Fitz and wife Mildred of Medina, OH and Ralph Fitz and wife Bonny of Berea, OH; brother-in-law, Donald Scranton of Bosque Farms, NM; sister-in-law, Pauline Scranton of Mesa, AZ; 3 grandchildren and their spouses; 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 25, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Corbin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Spice officiating. The family will recieve friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Corbin Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held Friday, July 26, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at Siloam Cemetery with Rev. Leslie Cowart officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or the Corbin Senior Center. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
