Georgia Burgamy Eley

Georgia Beatrice Burgamy Eley, 71, of White Plains, GA, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Washington County Hospital in Sandersville, GA. She was born on April 20, 1938 in Hancock County to the late Leon Cohn Burgamy and Elleene Yarbrough Burgamy. She was a graduate of Sparta High School. During her working career she was a nursing assistant in health care. Mrs. Eley was a faithful member of Mt. Stephens Baptist Church after she returned to White Plains in April of 2001.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Gerry Eley in January of 2002. She is survived by two sons, Donald Jack Rachels and wife Kaye of Choctaw Trail, OK and Albert Vincent Rachels of White Plains, GA; two step daughters, Alice Mathews and husband Scott of Deepstep, GA and Angela E. Lewis and husband Jack of Deepstep, GA, a stepson, Mark Eley and wife Linda of Milledgeville, GA; a sister, Faye Stevens of Sparta, GA; a brother, Leon Allen Burgamy and wife Kathleen of Cartersville, GA; four grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 4, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Stephens Baptist Church in White Plains with Rev. Dennis Garner officiating. Interment will follow at the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Eley and grandsons: Devin Rachels, Joey Rachels, Scott Lewis, Daniel Lewis and Chad Thompson.
