George Albert Rosencrance, Jr.
George Albert Rosencrance, Jr., age 58, of Union Point, Georgia, died on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA. Al was born in Covington, GA on October 15, 1959, the son of the late George Albert Rosencrance, Sr. and Peggy Copelan Rosencrance. He attended Morgan County High School and Athens Technical School. He joined the Herald Journal working with Carey Williams, Sr. where he was a photographer and helped to distribute the paper. Al collected guns and enjoyed collecting and selling knives. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was a member of Fork Chapel United Methodist Church in Greshamville.
He is survived by his aunts, Bennie Mae Copelan, Lillian Copelan Smith, Dorothy Copelan (Lenard) Collins, Mary Copelan Arnold and Janet Copelan Byrd; a good friend, Carol Marie Black and her son Chancey; numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Fork Chapel United Methodist Church, 1401 Farmington Road, Madison, GA 30650 with Rev. Dr. Tony Gavalas and Congressman Douglas Collins officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Chancey Black, Justin Saffold, Ross Copelan, Russell Ivie, Brian Ivie, Brent Smith, Douglas Collins, David Collins, Jason Byrd, Matthew Arnold, Jackie Copelan and Mitchell Pollock. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Daniels, Kevin Cason, Seaby Saffold and Sean Saffold. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the church.
