George Clendon Obituary

In Loving Memory
 “Chip”

George William “Chip” Clendon was born December 20, 1962 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He passed suddenly and peacefully into the arms of God at his mother’s home on September 15, 2015.  Chip attended Northwest Senior High School in Greensboro, N.C. Afterwards, he was employed at Lewer Share Enterprises in Salisbury, MD. For the past 10 years he has been employed at Oglethorpe Dinning Commons on the University of Georgia campus, or as Chip would proudly say “Where the big dogs eat!”

Nearly everyone who was privileged to meet Chip became a friend for life. They immediately fell in love with his playful spirit, his unforgettable laugh, his disarming honesty, and oh that sense of humor!  They admired his courage and determination in the face of challenges few of us will ever know. They marveled at how hard he worked to achieve his independence and how proud he was to have attained it. They were inspired by his thoughtfulness for other people, never wanting to cause concern or be a bother to anyone. And then there was that special and uncanny way he had with animals, especially dogs.  Chip was truly a good and gentle soul who was a special blessing to his Mother from the day he was born. His sweet, kind, and loving nature were an example to us all. What a wonderful and amazing man he grew up to be. And how he will continue to be loved and missed by everyone whose life he touched.

Chip’s mother wishes to express her heartfelt thanks to all of Chip’s extended family and his multitude of friends. She is so thankful for each of you who have loved him and made it possible for him to have such a wonderful life. Chip was a very spiritual man who loved his God and viewed his special and beautiful life as a treasured gift. You always felt a little happier and your soul a little lighter after spending time with Chip.

A private graveside service will be held at the New Garden Friends Cemetery in Greensboro, NC.
